Mikuzu Sudou can see ghosts, demons, and other mysterious and frightening things. Because ghosts exist only to those who can see them, she ends up attracting all sorts of monsters. Too scared to do anything about it, Mikuzu can only run away from them when they start to attack her...until she meets Seto Ashiya, a cross-dressing boy who can exorcise the monsters. He promises to protect her, as long as she promises to bake a cake for him in return!

Review

Simply reading the general plot for this manga already left me with a bad impression. There is nothing original or interesting about the plot. I don't know if making the cross-dressing exorcist a fan of sweets the author's attempt at humor, but it certainly failed on me. The artwork is decent, but is unoriginal like the plot. I am not too big a fan of this kind of artwork because I find the characters' expressions to be lacking something. They don't strike me to be very real. During the 'monster attack' scenes, showing Mikuzu's fear visually should be sufficient - the author shouldn't need to state in the text, "I'm scared," over and over.

Toward the end of the volume, the author starts to reveal a bit of Seto's past and the reason why he dresses like a girl, but the book ends without anything resolved. Usually, a second volume would be called for because no one likes to be left hanging with an incomplete story, but this story was not very great to begin with so a second volume will not be necessary.

Overall Rating: 2/5
